It was central to cultural interaction between the regions for many centuries. Till the first half of 20th century before the Chinese invaded Tibet, this old Silk Route was used heavily to trade silk, fur and wool between Tibet and India, and hence such name of the route. The Silk Road derives its name from the lucrative trade in silk carried out along its length, beginning in the Han dynasty (207 BCE–220 CE). In June 2014, UNESCO designated the Chang'an-Tianshan corridor of the Silk Road as a World Heritage Site. The Indian portion is on the tentative site list. It not only gets you closer the pristine nature of these holiday destinations but also allows to get acquainted with the local inhabitants and their colorful cultures and traditions. Feel the thrill as you ride through the amazing beauty of the region. Meet the local people and learn about their day-to-day life.
