Sundarbans is the part of world's largest delta, consisting of the mouth of the Ganga, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers. Sunderbans, the world's largest estuarine forest covers an area of 9630 sq km and 70% of the area is under saline water. This famous home of Royal Bengal Tiger, sprawling over an area of 1330.10 sq km forms the core of Sundarban forests. . The region comprises of luxuriant mangrove forests, swamps and forested islands, interwoven with a network of small rivers and rivulets. 40% of this area lies in West Bengal, while the remaining fall in the Bangladesh.
